Book Talks Due Tomorrow!




There seems to be some confusion about homework this week!  I did not send our regular reading packet this week, instead I sent the book talk.  A math page and spelling homework was also sent.

 Tomorrow is class picture day, and spring pictures (optional!)



Please make sure to send picture order forms and payment with your child tomorrow.

 

 Yearbook orders are due tomorrow!

 

Tomorrow is the last day to pre-order a yearbook!

Book Bag and Book Talk Examples!

Homework for next week includes a brown paper bag book talk.  Here are a few examples of the quality of work we are looking for with this assignment.  Your child will be completing several book talks over the last trimester.  Please have your child practice presenting their talk at home with you!

Valentine's Day Fun!

We did a fun graphing activity and language activity using conversation hearts this morning!  Lots of fun!

We worked on getting ready for our Friendship Party tomorrow afternoon!  I decided that we would go ahead and have a Nacho Bar at our party tomorrow (hopefully, it will balance out the sugar!)  I will provide this snack :-)  Here are some pictures of us making our Valentine's Day Bags - they came out great!

Tears Of Joy Assembly

We had a fabulous assembly today!  Tears of Joy came and performed a puppet show called, "Malika, Queen of the Cats."  Below are some pictures from their website and a short YouTube video that shows a little bit of the show.  Please by sure to ask your child about it. 

It's overall message was kindness - a great opportunity to talk to your child about being kind and how unkind words hurt others (like bee stings!)  They will be able to tell you about that part of the play!

Van Gogh Hallway Display

We are learning lots about Vincent Van Gogh this year!  In preparation for our parent-led Meet the Masters Program, our class looked at Van Gogh's Sunflowers piece and made our own interpretation!  We combined up with Mrs. H.'s class to make it really stand out.  I think it came out pretty cool and really brightened up our hallway :-)

Boise Art Museum

We had a fabulous time at BAM!  Here are few a pictures from the art projects students did after the tour:

Fun Math Activity



We had fun working on a hands on math activity recently.  The kids thought I was crazy when I dumped 1,000 popsicle sticks on the ground!  Students then worked together to group them into groups of 10's and 100's so that we could easily count all the sticks on the ground!

Boise Philharmonic
We had a guest from the Boise Philharmonic come to our classrooms today and teach us a bit about music.  We learned how to listen to music and hear the story that it tells.  Our guest played the trumpet for us!
